I looked at the icon one last time.

I thought about Ethan’s meticulous notes, and his fierce, quiet determination to protect me from the vultures I called a family. I thought about Chloe’s laugh, and how she’d never get to grow up, because her life ended on a rainy highway while the people who were supposed to cherish her were ordering drinks beside a turquoise sea.

I pressed the button.

The phone chimed softly. The data left my device and entered the servers of federal law enforcement.
