Nobody did anything to us that was against any rule.

He was not in custody; there was no arrest; nobody read anybody anything, and nobody was required to.

That is exactly the problem.

Everything that happened to my son in the next ninety minutes happened because a parent said yes to things in a sequence, and every single one of those yeses was mine.
