Fifty-One Hours
So I did not go inside.
I put the hat and the hair and the ribbon and three of the photographs back in the box.
I kept the card and the fourth photograph and I put them in the glove compartment of my car under the manual.
I put the box back in the plastic tub and I put the tub back where it had been, in the same orientation, and I wiped up the wine.
And at about three in the morning I went upstairs and got into a bed next to a sleeping man and lay there until about five.
