I have been asked to, twice, by people who wanted to help, and I have written about eleven hundred words about them privately and I have never shown them to anybody and I am not going to put them here, because my daughter is eight now and this account is going to outlive both of us and those six days belong to her.

What I will put here is the pharmacology, because the pharmacology is the case.

Her admission bloods showed the presence of two classes of drug — a benzodiazepine and an opioid — at levels that the attending described in her note as markedly supratherapeutic for weight in a pediatric patient, and with a metabolite profile consistent not with a single administration but with repeated dosing over a period of days.

That last part is the whole thing, and it is a question of chemistry rather than of anybody’s account.
