Marcus Beltran had filed a civil action in the August against Fernando’s construction company alleging fraud in the performance of two subcontracts, and had referred the matter to the district attorney’s office in the October, and in the November his daughter was taken out of a parking lot.
No ransom demand was ever made.
That is the part that made it invisible.
Everybody was looking for a stranger, because a stranger abduction is what a parking lot looks like, and because there was no demand, and because nobody in that investigation knew in the November that a construction fraud suit in a different county had anything to do with a missing six-year-old.
What Marcus Beltran received, in the December, was a single message from an unregistered number that said nine words.
