She has never claimed she believed it after the first fortnight.

That is what makes her account credible and it is what the prosecutor said in open court when explaining her plea.

She said, in the transcript: “I believed it for about ten days.

After that I knew it wasn’t right and I didn’t know what it was, and I told myself it wasn’t my business, and I kept telling myself that for sixteen weeks, and I was paid sixty-four thousand dollars.”

She was asked why she did not leave.
