Selene took a cooperation deal and testified that the whole scheme had been his design; she lost the townhouse, the jewelry, and the fantasy that Sebastian had been a powerful man building her a future.
At trial, the prosecutor played the lounge recording. The jury heard him call me obedient, heard him plan to steal my shares and bury me in debt.
The forged signature filled a courtroom screen. Sebastian was convicted of wire fraud, securities fraud, aggravated identity theft, and conspiracy, and the judge sentenced him to nine years in federal prison and ordered him to repay more than four million dollars.
I didn’t celebrate. There was no joy in learning that ten years of marriage had been built on manipulation — only the clean relief of finally seeing it plainly.

Six months later, I was back in an airport lounge. Ashford Aviation had recovered most of the stolen money.
