“No, Your Honor,” Nolan said.
Diane continued. “Mrs. Langley did not freeze the accounts in retaliation. The Whitaker Family Trust, majority owner of Langley Medical Logistics, initiated emergency protective action after forensic accountants identified unauthorized transfers totaling 2.6 million dollars over nine months.”
Victor’s head snapped toward me.
It was the first time he’d been told the full amount.
He’d assumed he was skimming money in portions small enough to slip past detection. A fabricated consulting expense here. A payment to a false supplier there.
