Grandma Went Away
“Amelia.” I stopped. “I’m sorry.” Her apology was quiet.
I turned back. “For what?”
“For calling you jealous. For not asking if Lily was okay. For knowing Mom favored my children and pretending it was harmless.”
The conference room suddenly felt smaller. “Why now?”
“Because the money stopped, and I saw how much of my life depended on never questioning her.” It was painfully honest.
