It was an entity called Fairhaven Management Services.

I recognized the name from an obscure entry in a vendor register: a company paid for ‘leadership transition consulting.’

The amount beside it was $186,000.

I had always suspected our missing money was going somewhere.

Now I began to suspect it was being spent on making me disappear from the company as well.
