I Took My Daughter to the Hospital and Discovered Her Father Had Canceled Her Care
I pulled my bag strap tighter over my shoulder and kept walking toward the driver’s door.
“Grace needs these documents at the hospital before her nine o’clock intake,” I said.
Daniel stepped right into my path, reached out, and snatched my ring of car and house keys straight out of my hand.
He turned on his heel, walked back up the three wooden porch steps, and put the brass house key into the deadbolt.
He turned the key with a hard metallic click, pulled the key ring free, and twisted the two house keys off the brass loop one at a time.
He dropped the house keys into his coat pocket and tossed the lone car key onto the hood of my Civic.
