“If I show a documented risk of medical delay, he’ll grant an expedited hearing on the morning docket.”
“What do you need from me right now?” I asked.
“I need you to stay in this hospital,” Marcus said.
“Don’t answer his calls, and don’t sign anything he sends by courier.”
He gathered his three legal pads and tapped their bottom edges against the wooden pew until they lined up perfectly.
“He called my office twenty minutes ago offering to split the uninsured hospital balance if you dropped the police report.”
