“The chart from that visit specifically recommended an urgent pelvic ultrasound.”

Daniel narrowed his eyes and shifted his briefcase to his left hand.

“That was a routine abdominal check,” he said.

“The urgent care doctor told me it was probably gas.”

“The doctor at this hospital wrote clear orders in her record,” I said.

“Why did you take her home five weeks ago without getting the scan?”

Daniel adjusted his watch band, his shirt collar looking tight against his throat.

“Because the wait in radiology was four hours,” he said.
