The emergency savings — twenty-five thousand dollars of my own money, money I had earmarked as a down payment on a house with Lennox — was at zero.
Worse: the attached credit card, the one I was the primary guarantor on, was maxed at thirty-five thousand dollars.
“What is this?” Lennox murmured, coming up behind me, his hands on my shoulders.
