I Canceled Seven Hundred Dollars After Christmas Night Left My Daughter Alone in the Dark
“This wasn’t an automatic transfer,” the teller said, angling her monitor slightly toward me.
“Your mother presented a paper payment draft for four hundred dollars at our drive-through window forty minutes after we opened.”
“Did it go through?”
“No,” the teller said.
“The signature didn’t match your signature card, so the supervisor on duty flagged it for fraud review.”
I laid my hands flat on the cold marble edge of the counter.
“I want that rejected draft attached to the certified transaction ledger.”
“That will require a formal notarized fraud affidavit,” she said.
