I stepped aside at once. After I locked the door, he looked straight at me. “Don’t tell Dad I’m here.”

I stared at the baby. “Are you telling me this is your child?”

He flinched. “My child? Mom — you don’t know anything about your husband.”

The words tightened something in my stomach.
