And so, standing at the foot of that table, I understood that clearing my father’s name and reclaiming his company required more than proving the money had moved.
It required stripping the noble story off the theft and forcing everyone in that room, including Wendy herself, to look at the naked act underneath: a woman who took a dead man’s company, drained it to cover her brother’s debts, and then, cornered, tried to trade the dead man’s daughter to buy her escape.
No rescue.
