Episode 8. THE FINAL MESSAGE

My phone rang. Unknown number. Victor’s voice came through the speaker. “Emily, come home alone if you want the truth about your father.” I demanded answers.

Victor’s response made my blood run cold. “Your inheritance was never the real secret.” “What secret?” I asked.

He paused. “Your father hid something inside that safe. Something powerful people have been searching for since the night he died.”

The call ended. Claire quickly traced the number. Then she looked toward the hotel window. Standing beneath a streetlight across the road was Victor Hale.

He was staring directly at Room 407. Suddenly, my phone vibrated. A message. Attached was a photograph. A picture of Daniel, Claire, and me inside Room 407. Taken only seconds earlier.

Someone had been inside the room with us. And in that terrifying moment, I realized the truth. We thought we had been watching Victor.But someone had been watching us all along.
