I left the hospital carrying my daughter’s ashes when my husband finally called from wherever he was with his mistress and coldly said, “The bill has been taken care of. Stop bothering me.” I didn’t argue with him. I didn’t allow him to hear my voice break.
“What do you mean, no?”
“You are going to preserve every single record and let the proper authorities handle it,” I told him.
“She stole money meant for my daughter!” he yelled.
“And while she was doing it, your daughter’s mother called you seventeen times,” I reminded him coldly.
That statement silenced him completely.
“You thought I was exaggerating because believing that was easier than answering your phone,” I added.
