I did not watch the whole of it.

I had no appetite for his humiliation, whatever he may have believed; I had wanted him stopped, not paraded, and the parading was simply unavoidable given where and how the stopping had to happen.

But I saw the beginning of it — the officers on either side of him, the badge finally surrendered, the leather folder taken from the general counsel’s hands and carried out as evidence — and I saw the employees move aside to let him pass.

I have turned that image over many times since.
