In October, My Husband Left a Manila Envelope on Our Kitchen Table and Walked Out Into the Rain
“We went out for breakfast every morning.”
“I was trying to keep up a routine,” he said.
He reached into his inside jacket pocket and pulled out a long white business envelope.
“This arrived from the bank yesterday morning.”
He held it out to me.
I did not take it, so he placed it on the roof of the car next to the radio antenna.
“What is that?” I asked.
“It’s fourteen thousand dollars,” Greg said.
