Iris — The Wedding Ring on the Table
A week later, an email arrived in Iris’s secured inbox from a woman named Talia Reed.
The subject line read, “You don’t know me, but I was asked to sign your name.”
Iris almost deleted it.
She had become cautious about unexpected messages.
Then she saw an attachment showing a company letterhead from Garrett’s insurance agency.
Talia said she had worked part-time for Garrett until leaving two months earlier.
She had been asked to prepare customer files, verify payment authorizations, and coordinate with Priscilla, who handled what Garrett called “administrative overflow.”
One afternoon, Talia wrote, Garrett had instructed her to scan a form bearing Iris’s signature.
