I do not think that anymore, and I want to be careful how I say this, because I would never suggest that her suffering was somehow for the best, or necessary, or a gift in disguise; it was a crime, and it should simply never have happened.
But she has done something with it that is entirely her own and entirely astonishing.
She has taken the very thing that was meant to end her and turned it into the exact instrument that lets her reach women no one else can reach.
The abuser meant her suffering to make her worthless.
She has made it the source of her particular, irreplaceable worth.
That is not his redemption.
