Over approximately three months, she traveled approximately 250 miles through the Blue Mountains of eastern Oregon and Washington.
She reached the Columbia River and found refuge with the Walla Walla people.
In spring 1814, she and her sons were encountered by Gabriel Franchère’s eastbound brigade on the Columbia River.
Her boys called out in French.
They were recognized as the wife and children of Pierre Dorion.
She was subsequently taken to Fort Okanogan.
