Jason turned toward him. “Dad, we can discuss this privately.”
“That was not my question.” Jason gave no answer.
Dad stepped into the aisle. “You are humiliating everyone because your feelings were hurt.”
I faced him. “No. I am preventing a fraudulent marriage.”
“You think you’re better than us because you saved some money?” He still had no idea who I was. Not truly. Mom touched his arm, silently warning him to stop.
He ignored her. “You have no understanding of what it takes to maintain a company, a household, or a family reputation.”
