Michael Carter Pushed Me Toward a Fifty Million Dollar Funeral
The inventory had been accepted.
There was no need for me to return to the Carter house unless it was arranged for a specific reason.
Michael had asked about the kitchen items and the brass key.
They told him the inventory was agreed and the key had been retained pending its completion.
He did not know where I was.
I picked up the key and turned it once in my palm.
It had brought me back through the front door that morning, but the door was no longer a place I needed to enter to prove I belonged somewhere.
