Money Announces Character
“I know. I never asked.”
“That’s worse, actually.” He laughed, once, without any humor. “You never asked because you already know I can’t. Everybody in this family always knows everything about everybody’s money.”
Then he said, “I could take Tuesdays.”
I looked up.
“I can’t move here. But I can fly in a Tuesday a month, and I can do the phone calls with the facility, and I can be the one who argues with the insurance people, because I’m actually good at that, it’s literally my job.”
He shrugged, uncomfortable with it. “It’s not much.”
