Moving Robe Woman (Tȟašína Máni) — The Hunkpapa Lakota Woman Who Rode Into The Battle Of Little Bighorn After Learning Her Brother Had Been Killed
The people who had celebrated victory in June 1876 were, within two years, largely confined to reservations.
The world they had defended at Little Bighorn — the world of the buffalo herds, of seasonal movement, of the Sun Dance and the political freedom of the Plains nations — was effectively destroyed within a decade.
Moving Robe Woman survived all of this.
She was there at the beginning of the end, on the morning of June 25, 1876, when the soldiers came out of the hills.
And she lived through what followed.
