Sophia keeps her life.

What I can tell you is that the five-year-old who once asked:

“Would you believe me?”

eventually learned something I hope every child knows before they ever need to test it.

An adult believing you does not mean an adult owns your story.

It means they take your safety seriously enough to help.

Then, if they do it right, they slowly hand your life back to you.

That is what I tried to do.
