Chapter 6 — The Second Result
Then Sinclair opened the envelope. “There’s another result,” he said. Madison stopped crying.
Sinclair looked at the child, then at Preston. “Your documented condition makes natural conception statistically impossible. And the court-authorized paternity test confirms you are not this child’s biological father.”
Preston stared at Madison. She backed against the wall. And all at once the man who had called me useless looked terrified of the woman he’d chosen.
Chapter 7 — Whose Son
Preston rounded on Madison so fast that the child began to cry. “Whose son is he?”
Madison pressed herself flat against the wall. “Yours in every way that matters.”
“Whose?”
“A donor’s!” she screamed.
