“Maybe there were things you missed,” I said.

“But trusting your partner isn’t stupidity.”

He sighed.

“She was wonderful to me when it was just us.

She could be generous, funny, and thoughtful.

I think that’s why I’m having trouble fitting this into my picture of her.”
