Chapter 14 — In the Light

So we did it in the light, and it turned out that the light was more than enough.

Here is the thing those three families never understood, in all their certainty that money and power placed them above consequence: powerful people who believe they are untouchable get sloppy, and sloppy people leave trails, and a trail, once it is documented properly and placed in the right lawful hands, is a far more powerful weapon than anything Leo carried in his bag.

We did not need to break any laws to destroy the case for these families’ innocence.
