She stepped out of Arthur’s long shadow and filed for a legal separation, choosing, for the first time in her adult life, her own peace over his comfort.

I did not celebrate any of these things.

But I did not mourn them either.

They were the shape the truth took, once it was allowed out of the fountain.

Chapter 17 — What We Built From It

There is one part of the aftermath that I am genuinely proud of, and it is the thing we did with the shares.
