They typed the messages, wired the money, breached the server, left the voicemails — they took the fog they had always operated in and, in their arrogance, committed it to the record.

And the instant they did, the whole structure of their power collapsed, because their power had never rested on being right.

Its power had rested on nothing being provable.

Documentation was the one thing they could not survive, because documentation is what turns a private cruelty that can be denied into a public fact that cannot.
