She checked her silver watch.

“The bank subpoena included a sweep of communications for any email addresses attached to the loan application,” Rebecca said.

She opened the third manila folder.

“We received fifty pages of correspondence between Daniel and Melissa,” she said.

I asked what kind of correspondence the bank had kept.

“Mortgage disclosures, asset verification letters, and emails forwarded to the loan officer to prove financial intent,” Rebecca said.
