Aaron did not look at her.

“No. Row five.”

Daniel sat across the aisle with a tablet on his lap.

He looked from Aaron to me and then back to the screen.

That bothered me more than the seat.

I set my bag down beside the forward cabinet.

“Aaron, that’s my seat.”

“It is a seat.”

Margaret gave a small smile.

“Must we do this before takeoff?”

Nobody raised a voice.

That almost made it worse.

Jasmine folded the napkin carefully.

“I don’t mind moving.”
