Chapter 3 — Both of Them

I filed for divorce almost immediately.

I had no idea how I was supposed to rebuild a life after this.

But Luca and Chloe did not seem interested in giving me any time to recover.

Before the divorce was even finalized, they announced that they were engaged and had begun planning a wedding.

The only thing standing between them and an immediate marriage was the technicality that Luca was still, legally, my husband.

I have thought since about the particular cruelty of that speed.
