There is a kind of anger that burns hot and blinds you, and there is another kind that goes cold and makes you see with perfect clarity, and it was the second kind that woke in me that night.

People underestimate the cold kind.

They think, because it does not shout, that it is weaker.

It is not weaker.

It is the anger that changes locks and files petitions and moves quietly through the night doing every necessary thing, and it does not exhaust itself in a scene, and it does not forget by morning, and it does not forgive because it was never really about feelings at all.

It is simply the moment a rational person stops accepting a story her own evidence has disproven.
