I saved it before I could change my mind.

I did not send Ethan another message.

I did not compose a threat or call anyone in the middle of the night.

I took a screenshot and left the original conversation where it was.

Then I picked up my watch.

The band had twisted slightly.

I straightened it and set the watch beside my phone, leaving both where I could reach them in the morning.
