“Luca?” I whispered, my voice trembling.

“What’s wrong?” He looked up at me slowly, and I had never in four years of marriage seen the expression that was on his face, a horrific mixture of shock, and terror, and something that looked, most frighteningly of all, almost like recognition.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” he asked, very quietly.

My chest tightened until I could barely breathe.

“Tell you what?” His eyes filled with sudden tears.
