I had been home the entire day, alone, working in my home office — a thing that a single glance at the building’s security footage, or the garage cameras, or my own logged work hours would have proven in about ninety seconds.

Gavin did not glance at any of it.

He did not want evidence.

He wanted permission, and Charlotte had given it to him, and that was all he had ever needed.

Chapter 3 — Three Days from the Deal

“You always do this,” he spat at me, his face dark red.

“You cling to me because you’ve got nothing of your own, nothing, and now — three days, Sabrina, I am three days from closing the biggest deal of my life, and I am not going to let some mediocre woman ruin everything I built.”

Everything he built.
