Chapter 15 — The Auditor’s Rule

People have asked me, since, how I was able to do it — how a woman fresh from a hospital bed, injured and betrayed, could move with such cold precision against a family with all that money and all those connections.

And the answer is the single most important principle of my entire profession, the rule I have organized my working life around, and, since that night, my whole life.
