I was the footing the whole thing rested on — the land, the building, the systems, the financing, the name.

I was the scaffolding that held their entire lavish life in the air.

And when they decided, in that foyer, to kick the foundation, to break it and force it to sign itself away, they did not weaken me.

They brought the whole house down on top of themselves.

That is what a foundation does when you attack it.

It does not yield.
