My Mother-in-Law Took My SUV Keys, and Then My Father Showed Up
I opened the envelope and took out three original paper bank statements for the Toyota SUV loan.
They were stamped with red arrival dates from June, July, and August.
“She took the mail,” Ethan said.
“Every single statement went straight into her desk drawer before I ever walked down the driveway.”
“I paid three hundred eighty dollars every month on the sixteenth,” I said, pointing to the printed payments.
“Straight from my freelance bookkeeping account.”
“She told me the car loan was in default,” Ethan said softly.
“She swore she was paying the bank out of her savings to keep them from sending a repo truck.”
