Chapter 11 — The Packing Boxes

When we pulled up to Grandma Eleanor’s brick home forty minutes later, my father’s luxury SUV was already parked in the driveway.

My parents were standing near the front porch, pale and disheveled and completely panicked.

And through the front window of the house — the house Grandma had lived in for fifty years, the house her husband had built — I could see cardboard boxes stacked in the hallway.

They had already begun packing up her belongings to list the property.
