It is the opposite of passivity.

It is the active, disciplined redirection of a righteous impulse away from the trap and toward the target.

The rage was real and it was justified; I simply refused to spend it where it would be wasted and dangerous, and saved it for where it would be total and safe.

Anyone can throw a punch when they are struck.

The rarer and greater strength is to feel the punch rising in your own arm, and understand in that instant that throwing it is exactly what your enemy is counting on, and put the arm down, and pick up the phone instead.

That is not weakness.
