Nathaniel, Hannah & Sophie
Hannah had kept her daughter’s world in orderly piles inside a space barely big enough to sleep.
“I can drive behind you,” he offered.
“Or I can leave you the address and you can go without me.”
“Please drive behind us,” Hannah said.
“I haven’t been there before.”
On the way, Nathaniel noticed Bluebird’s brake light flicker.
At the inn he waited until Hannah had the key and the desk clerk confirmed everything was settled.
Sophie reached back for his hand before disappearing down the hall.
