Jenna’s car pulled into the driveway at seven fifteen.
I watched from the front window as she got out with her phone pressed to her ear and her jaw tight.
She rang the bell four times before I opened the door.

Derek’s not answering his phone, Mom’s not answering hers, and the bank called me about some kind of fraud alert on the joint account.”
I stepped out onto the porch and pulled the door mostly shut behind me.
