Ninety-One Thousand Dirty Pennies Dumped on a Driveway in Oak Creek
Irene laid her gloved hands on her knees.
“Dale bought those ninety-one thousand five hundred pennies from Oak Creek First Bank on Tuesday morning, Becky.”
I turned to look at her.
“Tuesday?
I didn’t hand him my resignation letter till Thursday afternoon.”
“Marge Miller told me at the grocery store,” Irene said quietly.
“He ordered nine hundred fifteen dollars in change four days before you ever walked into his office.”
“He had it sitting in his back room waiting on me,” I said.
