Chapter 3 — They Dumped Me
As my head cleared, I recognized where I was.
I was behind a rundown supermarket in an industrial district of Bridgeport, miles and miles from my parents’ estate in Greenwich.
And that recognition brought with it a horror worse than the pain, because it meant something I did not want to understand.
I could not possibly have walked there.
Not in my condition, not barefoot, not that distance.
Which meant they had driven me there.
